Mark Stewart founded the legendary Pop Group at the tender age of 17, which, since the early 1980s, is still considered one of the most influential post-punk bands. His Pop Group experience led to many years of fruitful collaboration with the Maffia and dub producer Adrian Sherwood on his mythic label, On-U Sound. Stewart is considered by many to be one of the principle sonic architects who fused a certain “black music” sound with early 1980s British punk rock.
